Every year the BACB publishes how many first-time RBT exam candidates passed, grouped by the 40-hour training provider they named on their application. This page reproduces the 2025 table in alphabetical order so it is easy to look a provider up. The numbers are the BACB’s, not ours, and a ranking from them says less than it seems to.
What the BACB says about this data: the report covers publicly available training programs that had 10 or more first-time RBT exam candidates in 2025. Provider names are the ones applicants entered at the time of application and may differ from a provider’s own records. Candidates who completed a provider’s training may not have applied or taken the exam in the same year.
At a glance
- 51 providers are listed. Together they account for 71,555 first-time candidates, of whom 54,071 passed. That is 75.6% (our arithmetic from the BACB table).
- 9 providers had a pass rate of 90% or higher.
- Providers range from small programs to a few that trained over 10,000 first-time candidates each, so the same percentage means very different things at different sizes.

How to read it fairly
- Look at the number of candidates, not just the percentage. With 12 candidates, one person is 8 points.
- Different courses draw different people. A free course open to everyone can have a different mix of candidates than a course offered inside one company or a university program.
- A course is only part of preparing. The BACB data cannot separate what a course taught from how much a candidate studied afterward, so it does not show which course is better.
- These are 2025 exams. The RBT exam moved to the 3rd edition outline in 2026, so next year’s numbers may look different. See what changed in 2026.
If you did not pass on the first try
- You must wait 7 days between attempts and can attempt the exam up to 8 times within 12 months of your application approval.
- The BACB Handbook says a retake application fee is not currently required, but you pay the Pearson VUE appointment fee for each new appointment. Details: RBT exam format, fees and retakes.
- Use the wait to practice from memory rather than rereading. The six domains and their weights are in our outline explainer.
The BCBA and BCaBA reports
The BACB publishes similar reports for university programs. In the 2025 BCBA report, the overall first-time pass rate was 51% and 204 qualifying university programs are listed; 2025 was the first year of the exam on the 6th edition outline. For BCaBA the BACB reports an overall first-time pass rate of 60% for 2025. See the BACB university pass-rate page, and our BCBA and BCaBA guides.

Frequently asked questions
Where do these numbers come from?
They are copied from the BACB report RBT Examination Pass Rates for 40-Hour Training Providers 2025 (updated May 2026). We did not change them.
Does a low pass rate mean a course is bad?
Not necessarily. The BACB notes the data come from provider names that applicants typed in when they applied, and candidates may not have taken the exam in the year they trained. Courses also attract different groups of people, and small providers have few candidates, so one or two results move the percentage a lot.
Does a high pass rate guarantee I will pass?
No. A provider's rate describes past candidates in aggregate and says nothing certain about you. The BACB also says buying study materials does not guarantee you will pass.
What if I did not pass the RBT exam?
You must wait 7 days between attempts and can attempt the exam up to 8 times within 12 months of your application approval. The BACB Handbook says a retake application fee is not currently required, but you pay the Pearson VUE fee again.
