Harvard Psychologist — Radical Behaviorism

Founder of operant conditioning and programmed instruction. His cumulative recorder (1957) was the direct ancestor of the Standard Celeration Chart. Ogden R. Lindsley (1922–2000)

University of Kansas — Precision Teaching

Created the Standard Celeration Chart by adapting Skinner's cumulative recorder for classroom use. Founded the Precision Teaching movement and the Standard Celeration Society. His insistence on daily charting and proportional scaling changed how educators measure learning. Without Lindsley, there is no celeration visualization.

Invented SAFMEDS (Say All Fast Minute Every Day Shuffled) in the 1970s. Her work demonstrated that fluency training — not just accuracy — produces durable, applicable skills. The 60-second timed format we use directly descends from her flashcard methodology.

Precision Teaching Researcher
